Question 5

How will you attract/address your audience?

One potential way to attract my audience is to use models that the audience can relate to. Using relatable models, I can make people who are trying to make it big in the music industry feel as though they can accomplish their goals and they will buy the magazine as a motivation. Other people in my audience can be inspired to my models as they are roughly the same age and may go through the same problems yet they can still become successful.

Another way to attract my audience is to make the magazine more available through other sources such as the internet, mobile browsing, e-zines, tablets, and an app to download off both android and iphones.

Another way to attract my audience is through my content. I can use topics both old and new to engage my audience. For example, I can use the argument of who is a better rap artist out of 2PAC and Biggie Smalls to engage more of the older audience. And I could engage some of the younger audience by using quizzes and more informal interviews with certain mainstream artists.

Moreover, I can  use bright colours and large font to make my magazine less formal for some of the audience as well as use informal language. I can use slang for some interviews, however there must be a limit as my magazine could seem too ‘ghetto’.

I have been analysing some music magazine covers to decide how i can display to readers that my magazine provides free mixtapes tapes from new artists. Here is what i have looked at.

Photography room

This is the photography room I will take photo's of my models for my magazine. I learned some effects that the lights provide and how to use some objects to the best of my ability for example the reflectors. i have also learned how the camera is connected to the trinity flash kit to produse high quality photos.

TASK 5- Magazine stand

This image of a magazine stand is in WHSmith wood green as they display a wide range of popular magazines. This photo specifically focuses on rock music as that was the genre used for my task 2(case study analysis).
Some well established magazines have been clearly displayed such as   Popular music magazines of all types of genres are available such as R Kerrang!, Q, NME and more.

The magazines are arranged in correlation to genre/interest. The rock magazines such as NME and Rock Sound have more detail on the front covers, such as cover lines, images, teasers and skylines. The heavy metal magazines used dull colours such as black, white, silver, grey and small areas of red.

The magazines were slightly covering each other but with enough space to identify each masthead. In addition each row was close together but with enough space to see each masthead and most of the image if not all. The Rock magazines were quite high on the news stand at the middle where they could easily be noticed.
